This week, we’re going to the City Center!
I had the pleasure of eating brunch at The General Public before I went on my Asia trip. We arrived around 1:00PM after finding parking in the parking garage. There is a parking lot near by but we couldn’t find it so the garage was the safest bet. We were seated almost immediately. The decor is very gastro pub like but at the same time very homey. The lights were dim but not too the point where my friends and I were squinting to see the menu.
In general, nothing really stood out to me about the design of the restaurant.
The service was pretty good. We had a new server, he was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and was honest to us when we asked him a question (mainly about drinks) that he didn’t know the answer to. I appreciate honesty from servers.
Here is the brunch menu so we can look together!
The first thing I noticed was $1 Mimosas! I am a BIG mimosa drinker, if there are mimosas on the menu, I’m ordering one or all of them!
Listed below are the items that my boyfriend and I ordered!!!

Shakshuka -crushed tomato, toasted cumin, smoked paprika, soft poached eggs & buttered baguette
My dish came out last but it was piping hot that I wasn’t even mad. There wasn’t enough bread for me so I started eating my dish with the potatoes.

Hash Au Gratin – crispy potatoes, green chile cream & parmesan cheese
Literally cannot mess up potatoes. Eat. More. Potatoes. I’m somewhat of a picky eater because I eat a lot of bland-ish foods but this wasn’t too salty so I ended up ordering an extra one for me to eat.

Steak & Eggs Migas – three scrambled eggs, shaved ribeye, ale glazed shallots, crispy corn tortillas, harissa, served with hash au gratin
The Boyfriend is on a strict(ish) keto diet so he didn’t eat the tortillas or the hash au gratin that came with his meal but that doesn’t mean I didn’t go hard and take them. I used the tortillas to eat the potatoes and my Shakshuka because I don’t – or I try not to – waste food.

Cinnamon French Toast Carnival Style – fresh berries, whipped cream (carnival style simply means it’s fried)
The Boyfriend and I love french toast but since he can’t eat it means I get to eat it all for myself. And let me tell you, it was so good. If you simply eat the french toast by itself – there’s nothing overly special about it. However, eat it with whipped cream and strawberries and the syrup, OHMYGOD, so good. I couldn’t finish this at the restaurant so I ended up taking it home and eating it after a night out.
